How I became Medical Director of America’s largest family Health Center— Nigerian born Dr. Tobe Momah

Dr. Tobe Momah, MD; Author of S.I.T.

From an
early age, I had been termed restless and adventurous by those who knew me
best. In fact, my mother told my wife during our courtship years that she
needed to find a way to keep me at home because I was a restless soul who never
stopped going.
After I gave
my life to Christ in 1989, one of the leaders of the campus fellowship I
belonged to told me that I cared about everything as if Jesus did not meet His responsibility of taking care of His body.

Twenty five
years later I have come full circle. No more mindless trips with spiritual
narcissism the goal, but a sobber simple walk with Jesus. In January 2014, as I was about to minister at one of the
monthly Holy Ghost nights my ministry
hosts in Monroe, Lousiana, the Lord Jesus spoke to me and said “Stay in tune”.
After that
experience, my senior Pastor Shane Warren asked me to minister at
a Wednesday evening church service. The word God gave me to share was titled “Stay
in Tune”
with the acronym S.I.T.

Dr Tobe Momah, Author, Preacher & Scientist

All these
snowballed into this book (Stay In Tune—SIT). It is written with the desire to
see an accentuated experience among believers. In order for the church to
receive truth at His feet or recover the treasures the enemy has stolen from
us, we can ill-afford not to Stay in Tune
(or S.I.T) at His feet.
Psalm 91:1
says “He that dweleth in the secreth
place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty”.
The word interpreted as dwell in the Hebrew is Yoseb and it means to sit
in a dis-articulated position.  Any believer who stays in tune with God or S.I.T.s
in His presence will experience the shadow of the Almighty around them like a garment is worn in a very conscious
way. They become impossible to ignore and a terror to the terrible.

Psalm 91:5-7
says such people, “shall not be afraid
for the night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day. Nor for the pestilence
that walketh in darkness; nor for the destruction that wasteth at noon day. A
thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it
shall not come nigh thee”
The Meaning
of S.I.T.—“Any hath raised us up
together; and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus”
—Ephesian
2:6
The Webster
English dictionary defines sitting as
“adopting or being in a position in which one’s weight is supported by one’s
buttocks rather than one’s feet and back”.
Few, however understand its
spiritual interpretation.
According to
the scriptures, you can run, stand, or walk on the earth and still be
considered seated in heavenly places with Christ
Jesus
(Ephesians 2:6). Sitting, in spiritual parlance is not defined by the
position of the body but in terms of a believer’s spiritual connectivity.

Dr. Tobe Momah to Asabeafrika….’Let your feet be on the earth but your head in the cloud’

The
Methodist movement under  the leadership
of John
Westley
, made this a core creed among their followers. They proclaimed
they had feet on the earth but heads in the cloud. In Exodus 19:4,
God told the children of Israel “Ye have
seen what I did unto the Egyptians and how I bare you on eagles’ wings, and brought
you unto myself”.
In spite of
the fact that the Israelite were
living in the sweltering wilderness of Sinai,
at the time, God recognized them as being with Him in heavenly places. Heaven
is not just a destination. It is also a dimension and you can continue to
operate in that realm no matter where you are.

Dr. Tobe Momah to Asabeafrika….’Believers must converse with Christ at all times’

Believers
are residents here on earth but the Bible says “Our conversation is in heaven: from whence also we look for the
savior, the Lord Jesus Christ”; (Philippians 3:20) The reality of the unseen is
far more real to a spiritually in tune believer than the seen world. 2 Corinthians 4:18 says “While we look not at the things which are
seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are
temporal but the things which are not seen are eternal”.
Until
believers stop putting their trust in flesh, and understand that we have “here no continuing city, but seek one to
come”,
(Hebrew 13:14) we cannot stay in tune or S.I.T. with God.
Jesus S.I.T.s

Dr. Tobe Momah wants Christians to stay in tune

Hebrew
10:12-13 says “this man (Jesus), after he
has offered one sacrifice for sins forever, sat down on the right hand of
God…henceforth expecting till his enemies be made his footstool”.
 Jesus
finished and sat down at the right hand of God till His enemies were put under
His feet. The battle of the ages between evil and good will be won sitting down!
This sitting
position doesn’t mute the ability of Jesus to stand, scatter and slaughter His
enemies but illustrates sitting as a continuous state of spiritual interaction
with God the Father.
Every war we
encounter or battles we face as believers is not won on the basis of how much
armamentarium or power prowess we claim to have. It is won because our
spiritual frequency with God is intact. Act
10:38
captures this succinctly as the secret behind the success story that
was Jesus ministry. It says, “How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy
Ghost and with power; who went about
doing
good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil
: for
God was
with him” (emphasis added by the author)
Beware of Static…

Dr. Tobe Momah explaining details of his Christian life to Asabeafrika

Many
believers have believed the lie that God doesn’t speak and is hard to
understand. That is furthest from the truth. Paul says in 1st Corinthians 14:8 “For if the trumpet give an
uncertain sound, who shall prepare himself to the battle?”
God has an
obligation to clarity if He wants to combat readiness and responsiveness from
us—His troops. He said further in James 1:5, “If any of you lack wisdom,
let him ask of God, that
giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth
not; and
it shall be given him”,
God wants
your signals to be clear not static. He answers with liberality not levity. He
told the church in Ephesus to “Be ye not unwise, but understand what the
will
of the Lord is”, (Ephesians
5:17)

The Book, S.I.T.

Static are
radio sounds that come over the air waves as muffled or difficult signals. It
gives a distorted interpretation of the real sound and leaves the hearers
confused, deceived and uncertain. God is not that way. He said “other sheep I
have, which are not of this fold, them also I must bring, and they shall hear
my voice” (John 10:16). As long as you are His sheep, hearing is
obligatory.  He followed up the above
statement by saying “My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow
me” (John 10:27). It is not weather God speaks or not that should be
questioned, but are we (the church) tunning into his frequency to hear God
clearly?
Psalm 42:7
says “deep calleth unto deep at the noise
of thy waterspouts; all thy waves and thy billows are gone over me”.
The
deep places are the place of spiritual connectivity with God and believers’ of
impact first make contact with God in the deep!
My Encounter with Stoppers, Stranglers and Supposed Helpers!

Dr. Tobe Momah, MD

I had the
desire to pursue a post graduate medical program in the United States of America
(USA) following medical school in Nigeria.
I was dogged, determined and decisive about the matter. I got my Masters in Medical Parasitology at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical
Medicine
, United Kingdom, and was
planning to go to the United States
for medical residency training when I came face to face with some opposition to
my plans.
Friends,
family and foes alike called me stubborn, silly, selfish and self-promoting,
but notwithstanding, I persisted. I passed all my required exams and, after doing
a three months medical missionary sabbatical in Ethiopia, the doors to the US
medical system miraculously opened.
In my
darkest moments, God’s still small voice kept speaking to me saying “I will get you a job in the USA”. Today, I am an attending Family Physician
and the Medical Director of the largest Federally Health qualified center in Louisiana. Those who chastised me the
most, during my days of struggle to get residency, have become my greatest
celebrant! Hallelujah.
