Ogun Trains Teachers On Entrepreneurship Education

Entrepreneurship
Education has been described as a key towards actualizing academically sound
and economically self-reliant students in the State.

The
Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Mrs. Modupe Mujota, made
this known while addressing participants at a workshop organised by the
International Centre for Leadership and Entrepreneurship Development (ICLED) in
conjunction with Ogun State Ministry of Education, Science and Technology on
Training of Teachers on Entrepreneurship, in Abeokuta.

Mrs.
Mujota who was represented by a Director in the Ministry, Mr. Martins Akinsolu
maintained that Entrepreneurship education is an instrument for positive social
change and catalyst for economic emancipation and empowerment. She said the
training would meet the entrepreneurial needs of the teachers who will
subsequently impart same to their students through the new Entrepreneurship
hand book.
She
noted that, wealth and jobs creation are attainable through the establishment of
small businesses by entrepreneurially minded individuals, many of whom
 ended  up  creating bigger businesses. 
The
Commissioner said the event marks another landmark in the development of
entrepreneurship education which is exemplified in the training of teachers on
the use of a manual on entrepreneurship at a time when trade subjects are
gaining ground in Schools.
She
acknowledged the fact that provision of qualitative education was the core
responsibility of Government, saying that  the present administration led
by Senator Ibikunle Amosun has left no stone unturned at providing enabling
environment and giving education its pride of place as the best legacy to
 bequeath to  youths.
In
her remarks, author of the entrepreneurship hand book and founder,
International Centre for Leadership and Entrepreneurial Development (ICLED),
Prof. Olajumoke Familoni charged the participants at the workshop to make good
use of the entrepreneurship handbook to enrich themselves academically and
impart the knowledge acquired at the training to their students
Responding,
one of the participants Mr. Kunle Adekola appreciated the State Government for
approving the workshop, explaining that it would go a long way in assisting
them in the teaching of entrepreneurial studies in their various schools.
