In this red exclusive with Asabe Afrika TV, COMRADE ADEOLA SAMUEL ILORI, the National Co-ordinator of ALL ELECTRICITY CONSUMER PROTECTION FORUM revealed detail of the work his organization commit itself with to liberate Nigerian consumers from fraudulent power distribution companies (Discos) who charges consumers outrageously especially Ikeja Electric (IE) which has fallen into the bad record of several consumers in Lagos due to criminal billings and acts capable of breaching public peace by staff.
In a follow-up to our investigation over allegations of illegal disconnection, fraudulent and outrageous billing tactics of some staffers and service managers of Ikeja Electric by 51 LCDAs in Ojokoro area of Lagos (and perhaps other Discos) and the deliberate act of negligence to follow the rules of engagement for unmetered consumers via a new policy called ‘CAPPING’ which was authorized and legalized by the Nigerian Electricity Regulations Commission (NERC) with effect from February 2020, we decided to engage Comrade Adeola Samuel Ilori to find out the place and purpose of that law with power consumers and why some Discos are not following the law.
