ALABA LAWSON (MFR) on Thursday December 7, 2023, eminent Nigerians paid glowing tribute to the spirit and memory of the late Iyalode of Yoruba land with their esteemed presence at the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library (OOPL) Abeokuta, Ogun State (Western Nigeria)
Chief (Mrs.) Alaba Oluwaseun Lawson (MFR, FiOD, JP) was a Nigerian business magnate and academician. She served as the first female President of Nigerian Association of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (NACCIMA) and Chairman of the board of the Governing Council, Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Ogun State.
The prominent educationist and founder of the popular Alaba Lawson Group of Schools was born in the early hours of Thursday January 18, 1951 and died in the early hours of Saturday October 28, 2023 at the age of 72.
Until her death she had the rare honor and privilege of being the 1st Iyalode of Yoruba Land. She was equally the Iyalode of Oke Ona and 4th Iyalode of Egba land after the demise of the highly reputable Madam Bisoye Tejuosho.
In this video, eminent Nigerians from all walks and within the rank and file of the political elites in Ogun State stormed the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library—OOPL for a Christian Wake Keep Service cum Night of Tributes and paid glowingly tributes to the rich lifestyle of ALABA LAWSON.
From Christian leaders to Islamic leaders down to politicians, it was a torrent of tributes.
Leading the pack of dignitaries at the event is Ogun State Deputy Governor, Engineer Noimot Salako Oyedele who represented the Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun (MFR).
Wife of former Nigerian President and Commander-In-Chief of the Armed Forces, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo (GCFR) Chief (Mrs.) Bola Obasanjo was present as Chief Host.
Other dignitaries at the event are Ogun State first Lady, Mrs. Bamidele Abiodun; Immediate Past Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun (CON) and High Chief Doja Adewolu, the Agoro of Egba Land who revealed one of the best kept secrets of IYALODE ALABA LAWSON.
Others are Senator Prince (Dr.) Lanre Tejuosho, the Pro Chancellor, University of Lagos (UNILAG) and Baba Ijo of the African Church, Cathedral of St Jame’s, Idi Ape; Olori Yetunde, Olori Olabisi and Olori Omolara Tejuosho from the royal Palace of the Osile of Oke Ona-Egba, His Royal Majesty, Oba (Dr.) Adedapo Adewale Tejuosho (Karounwi II)
Juju Music Legend Chief Commander Ebenezer OBEY Fabiyi (MFR) led cream of important people from all walks of life to the event.
Her body was committed to mother’s earth the next day after a funeral service held at the African Church, Cathedral of St. James, Idi-Ape, Abeokuta on Friday 8th of December.
Nigerians in the corporate, traditional, business and entertainment community paid their last respect to Iyalode Alaba Oluwaseun Lawson at OOPL.
