Prose & Praise for General Jemibewon @ 80

General David Medayese Jemibewon (CFR, Mni) an elder statesman and one time Adjutant General of the Nigerian Army clocked 80 on Monday 20th of July Year 2020.

The Iyah-Gbede, Kogi State born soldier was the first Military Administrator of Oyo State when the state was created in 1976; he was elevated from Governor, Western States of Nigeria to become MILAD (Military Administrator) of the newly created Oyo State (After Ogun and Ondo were extracted from the large landed old western states).

Jemibewon whose name was a house-hold name in those days ruled Oyo for close to three years. He created the modern city of Ibadan. Jemibewon although from Iyah-Gbede in Kogi State (Present North Central Nigeria) built modern Ibadan as if it was his own place of birth.

He was a very passionate Yoruba son, and that he manifested in his quality discretion. Till date, he holds the honorary traditional title of Jagunmolu of Ibadan land. The General is well loved in Ibadan land and his Iyah, Kogi state home.
