In a well detailed tribute, former Presidential spokesman and a former Editorial Board Chairman, Guardian Newspaper, DR. REUBEN ABATI revealed secret of his relationship with late business man and former Senator, Ogun East Senatorial district, SENATOR BURUJI KASHAMU.
Buruji Kashamu also known as ESHO JINADU was a very controversial public figure in his life time. Believed to be a drug fugitive running away from justice in America, Buruji invested heavily in politics and at a time he became the leader of the former ruling party PEOPLE’S DEMOCRATIC PARTY (PDP) in Ogun State, South Western Nigeria.
He equally had interest in hotel, lotto and real estate business.
Dr. Reuben Abati whose esteem was so high as a newspaper columnist before going to serve ex-Nigerian President, Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan as Presidential spokesman between 2011 and 2015 suddenly became a running mate to late Buruji Kashamu’s 2019 gubernatorial election.
Kashamu/Abati ticket ran and lost but their friendship continued after 2019 elections in Ogun state.
The late socialite, businessman, politician and philanthropist died on Saturday August 8th, 2020 and was buried inside one of his properties in Ijebu-Igbo the next day. He died of the dreaded COVID 19 virus.
A mammoth crowd sank into his compound to give him a final ‘goodbye’ as they claimed he touched their lives at various times.
Dr. Reuben Abati, his running mate later put pen to paper to give him a befitting tribute on Monday, August 10.
