Penultimate Tuesday, November 3, 2020, this channel met the humble but very innovative guru of Nigeria’s tabloid journalism sector inside his humble abode in Okota area of Lagos in the Western Senatorial district.
Meeting him was by chance and a golden opportunity as our team had gone to do a community reporting in the neighborhood.
MIKE AWOYINFA and his late friend DIMGBA IGWE revolutionalized human interest journalism in Nigeria when they pioneered the highly successful Weekend Concord Newspaper in 1989.
They later became the founder Managing Director/Editor-In-Chief and Deputy Managing Director/Deputy Editor-In-Chief of Sun Publishing Limited in year 2002. They are authors of many successful books including ‘The Journalism Text, The Art of Features Writing, 50 Nigeria’s Business Strategists, Nigeria’s Marketing Memoirs, Mike Adenuga: Africa’s Business Guru, Segun Osoba: The Newspaper Years and the latest one, 50 Nigeria’s Boardroom Leaders (Lesson on Corporate Governance and Strategies).
In this encounter, the guru of tabloid journalism prayed for me and encouraged me to keep my creativity awake with more innovative encounters.
