Friday, August 14, 2020, the people of Onikoko Town in Ewekoro Local Government Area of Ogun State, South Western Nigeria got a new traditional leader in the person of High Chief BABATUNDE AKANNI OGUNYADE who succeeded the former Baale, late Chief Olusegun Julius Shokunbi.
To order and coordinate the rites of office on behalf of the Olowu of Owu kingdom, His Royal Majesty, Oba (Dr.) Olusanya Adegboyega Dosunmu, Akobi Oodua Amororo II was the indefatigable Balogun of Owu Kingdom, and ex-President and Commander-In-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, CHIEF OLUSEGUN AREMU OKIKIOLAKAN OBASANJO (GCFR) who was joined by the Otun of Owu Kingdom, Chief Doja Adewolu, the Osi of Owu Kingdom, Chief Niyi Adegbenro and other Owu Chiefs to inaugurate the ascension of High Chief Babatunde Akanni Ogunyade as the new Baale of Onikoko Town.
