Moneywise 14: How to Predict Success and Failure

Celebrity Blogger, Gbenga Dan Asabe with Elder Statesman, Senator Bode Olajumoke

I was in London
to join my wife who was already on holiday there. While in London, I placed a call
to my Mentor who said he would be arriving London the following day. We agreed
to meet in a coffee shop somewhere on Oxford
Street
not far from Mark and
Spencer’s
. My wife and I kept the appointment, as he had requested. I was
excited to see him again and we were in each other’s arms for some minutes.

“It is so nice to see you again”, he
said. He wanted to know so many things. He wanted to know how I had fared in
implementing the capsules he had given to me. He wanted to know if I had
started to preach the message as he had admonished. He wanted to know if I had
been carrying my wife along in the implementation of the principles. He was
generally happy with the progress I had made. Then, true to his nature, he just
started teaching again, without any preambles.

Mike Murduck

“Let me tell you something about principles. As I
have said to you many times, success is predictable; so is failure. If you make
up your mind to be successful, you will be successful. Nothing can stop you. If
you make up your mind to be wealthy, you will be. On the other hand, you can
also dream your way to failure and multiple financial crises. It is a matter of
choice. Everything is based on principles. You can apply the principles for
success with good success following; you can also apply the principles for
failure with unmistakable failure following.

“The good thing about principles is that they have
predictable results. Principles generate results irrespective of who uses them.
They do not discriminate on the basis of status, place of birth and the
location of the individuals applying them. When you applied the wisdom nuggets
I gave to you on financial matters, did you achieve results?”
he asked,
obviously expecting an answer. “There
have been
remarkable results”, I
replied.

“Can you imagine an individual who
spends more than he earns, refuses to save on a consistent basis, accumulates
liabilities rather than assets, does not believe in serving others, does not
record his expenses, does not sit at the feet of a mentor taking instructions,
and he is expecting to become wealthy? He has succeeded in only setting himself
up for financial crisis”.

“That’s right”, he continued. “This is the trick. Every time you apply a
cause, you generate results. If you want to develop your muscle, do what your
exercise instructor asks you to do and in a short while, you would have built
the layer of muscles you desire. If you want to achieve sound health, you would
eat what your doctor says you should eat and avoid what he says you should not
touch. You can also predict the results if you violate your doctor’s
instructions.
If you want to be wealthy, the logical thing to do
is to study the habits of wealthy people and apply them religiously and success
is guaranteed. It does not matter whether you are from a poor family or a rich
family or whether you are living at Ajegunle or in Ikoyi
(all in Lagos
State). And if you don’t do what they do,
you can pray from now till eternity, you still won’t be wealthy.
I am amused by individuals who flagrantly violate
principles of wealth accumulation and are expecting to be rich. It just won’t
happen! Can you imagine an individual who spends more than he earns, refuses to
save on a consistent basis, accumulates liabilities rather than assets, does
not believe in serving others, does not record his expenses, does not sit at
the feet of a mentor taking instructions, and he is expecting to become
wealthy? He has succeeded in only setting himself up for financial crisis. And
this is guaranteed.
God built the world on principles. That is why we
don’t have to pray for the Sun to rise and set, for the stars to appear, for
the oxygen to flow into your system, for the day to break and for night to
fall. Our God is a God of order; he is not a God of confusion. He is not a
temperamental God who blesses people at random. Once you follow the principles
He has laid down in any area of your life, you will surely get the desired
results”
You Need Principles to Sustain Miracles: But the problem
is that most of us crave for miracles. God certainly dispenses miracles, but
you need principles to sustain the miracles, as Mike Murdock would say.
That is what late Bob Marley was saying in his music: “Every body wants to go to heaven; but nobody wants to die”
My friend paused
as we all took some coffee. “That is
deep”,
I said. “You know I can’t stop talking once I see you”, he
said laughing. “A mentor is always happy
when he finds a protégé carrying out his instructions”
, He talked on
several other topics which I will also share with you.
