OBASANJO D’ARA: How 1st African Female Talking Drummer, ARA dazzled OBJ @ 84

On Friday, Match 5th, 2021, revered and respected Africa’s elder statesman and former President and Commander-In-Chief of the Armed Forces, Federal Republic of Nigeria, CHIEF AREMU OLUSEGUN OKIKIOLAKAN OBASANJO (GCFR) clocked 84.

Obasanjo a former combatant soldier at the Congo war of the 60s later became Nigeria’s Head of Military Government after his boss, General Murthala Mohammed was assassinated in a coup on Friday, February 13, 1976. He ruled for three Years and became first Nigerian Military ruler to hand over to a civilian government on October 1, 1979. He was succeeded by Malam Shehu Shagari.

Chief Obasanjo was elected Civilian President in 1999 at the return of Democracy after spending over three years in prison as a result of late Nigerian maximum leader, General Sani Abacha’s strategy to keep opposition in check.

Obasanjo ruled for two terms of eight years and was succeeded by Malam Umar Yar Adua in 2007.

Chief Obasanjo famously called EBORA OWU is the Balogun of Owu, Olu-Omo of Ibogun-Ola Ogun and a Doctorate holder in Theology.

On his 84th birthday, Africa’s first female talking drummer, ARALOLA OLAMUYIWA (ARA) honored Chief Obasanjo with a special drum and Oriki rendition at Abeokuta, Ogun State South Western Nigeria home.
