Ogun Warns Against Contravening Urban Renewal Laws

The
Ogun State Government says it would not fold its arms and watch people
contravene the State Physical Planning and Urban Renewal laws and Regulations,
as it has taken steps to check building contravention across the State.

The
Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development in Ogun State,
Bashorun Adebola Adeife made this known while speaking on the demolition
exercise carried out by the Ministry on some illegal structures within the
State.

Basorun
Adeife explained that all the demolished structures infringed on the State
Physical Planning Law, adding that Government was not bent on embarrassing its
citizens but to prevent construction of building against urban renewal lawss.
 “These structures in question did not have
approved building plan, some built commercial or religious structures in a
purely residential reserved areas while some built in total flagrant against
the physical planning laws” Adeife said.
The
Commissioner urged would-be developers to obey the physical planning laws and
guide against erecting structures on any land without approval in Ogun State,
saying era of impunity was over.
He
however promised that the Ministry would do everything possible to ensure
environmental orderliness and strict compliance to the building and physical
planning laws for the betterment of all citizens.
