for being more concerned about her baking than the bread of life. Believers can

Dr. Tobe Momah, MD speaks against ‘The Spirit of Martha’ |
The spirit of Martha is a spirit of governance and
efficiency without intimacy with God that makes our spiritual journey listless
and unsavory. This detachment from God’s presence makes early burn out and unfruitful
living inevitable.

Still Waters…
The Psalmist
said in Psalm 23:2 “God maketh me to lie down in green
pastures; He leadeth me beside the still waters”. God is found more in the
still places of life, than in the strife-filled or sweat producing arenas of
human endeavor.

In 1st Kings 19:11-12, He was
still in the still small voice and
not the wind, earthquake of fire. It says “The
Lord passed by, and a great and strong wind rent the mountains, and brake in
pieces the rocks before the Lord but the Lord was not in the wind and after the wind an earthquake but the Lord was not in the earthquake; And after the earthquake a fire but the Lord was not in
the fire and after the fire a still and small voice”.

Until we are
still before God, we cannot still the avenger of our souls. Psalm
8:2 says “Out of the mouth of babes
and suckling that thou ordained strength because of thine enemies, that thou
mightest still the enemy and the avenger”

The time
believers spend with God should not be an afterthought at the end of the day,
when they are exhausted, but the first thought and desire they have every
morning. When Jesus chose his 12 disciples, “He ordained twelve that they should
be with him”. (Mark 3:14). His priority was their presence not their
performance.

Our priority
should be to be with Him and not just
work for Him. Our priority should be to make our life an offering pleasing unto
him in worship and not in performing the three steps of a perfect worship
service.

Dr. Tobe Momah explaining more points to the GDA on how to serve God |
When God
brought Israel out of captivity, His
first task was to make her sit down. He said, ‘shake thyself from the dust’…sit down, (and) loose thyself from the
bands of thy neck, O captive daughter of Zion” (Isaiah 52:2). To the spirit of Martha, however, sitting to
commune with God is a waste of time and energy. Rather than sit at the master’s
feet, they would rather be busy working for God.

God wants intimacy not just
involvements. A
church that is willing to shake off the enemy sits at His feet and scatter
themselves till God’s will is eventually clothed in glory. Isaiah 52:1 says “awake, awake, put on thy strength O Zion;
put on thy beautiful garments O Jerusalem, the Holy city for henceforth
there shall no more come into thee the uncircumcised and the unclean”.

Until we
start sitting at His feet, we remain vulnerable to satanic self –help whims and
caprices just as Martha did. The Church’s best days are ahead of her but first,
she must stop the spirit of Martha
and embrace the S.I.T. position epitomized by Mary.

Dr. Tobe Momah, MD on dynamics of ‘The Still Voice’ |
Bishop David Oyedepo is the Presiding Bishop of Living Faith Church Worldwide and
pastors at the single largest church auditorium called Faith Tabernacle, Otta,
near Lagos Nigeria. He recently
celebrated his sixtieth birthday and when asked to recall any challenge he has
faced as a minister, he poignantly recalled a building project the church
undertook in the early 1980s, in Kaduna City,
Nigeria.

near Lagos Nigeria. He recently
celebrated his sixtieth birthday and when asked to recall any challenge he has
faced as a minister, he poignantly recalled a building project the church
undertook in the early 1980s, in Kaduna City,
Nigeria.
He recalled
that the church had bought some property in the Kaduna Reservation Area
and every attempt to build on it was met with a failure. He was visiting the
property one day when the Holy Spirit spoke to him and said “if you continue building this building, it
will be the end of your ministry”. On hearing this, Bishop Oyedepo recalls
immediately pulling out of that site and has not returned till date.

On the other
hand, God told him to relocate to Lagos,
Nigeria in 1989 saying “Get down to Lagos and raise me a people”.
David Oyedepo followed God’s leading,
and in 1994, the word of the Lord came to him again saying “The harvest of Africa is now
over-ripe, rush in and preserve it from decadence”. This prompted the African Gospel Invasion Program
(A.G.I.P.), and a resultant explosion numerically in the Iyana-Ipaja, Lagos Church.

To
accommodate the surging hundreds of thousands at their meetings, God directed David Oyedepo to Canaan Land in Otta, Nigeria where the ministry headquarter
is currently domiciled on over 10,500
acres. Fifteen years later, that land accommodates a sprawling 50,400 capacity church building, a first
rate private university called Covenant
University, an international Bible school—Word of Faith Bible College
International (WOFBI), a hundred bed hospital, banks, high schools and an
elementary school. Other edifices on the ground include a bakery, water
bottling plants and massive residential quarters that can house up to 15,000
families.

Back of The Book, S.I.T. |
Bishop David Oyedepo listened to God and provided an
oasis for his generation. If he had stubbornly kept pushing the ill-fated
building project in Kaduna
metropolis, that didn’t have God’s sanction, there may not be a global ministry
that is celebrated today. He left the self-help project he wanted and followed
the God-helped project God wanted. Through that decision, Living Faith Church has become a global force for good.
