the most uncommon manner during our rare encounter with her in Lagos. She
equally told asabeafrika reasons why
she adores her Nigerian counterpart and face of Range-Rover E-Vogue in Nigeria who is equally a famous actress, in
the person of Genevieve Nnaji. Sit

Rover E-Vogue
on how she was chosen to represent Range Rover E-Vogue in Nigeria was
like opening a brand new but interesting chapter in a new book “One day I was
at work and I got a call from my cousin Yaw and he said to me ‘listen, I have
picked your name because they are trying to find a face to represent a car that
Range Rover is coming up with and I have picked your name. So, stay put and
wait; he said and I said ‘Ok, I am going to fast tomorrow (laughs heartily) I
didn’t even know what the deal looked like but I said ‘look, I am going to
start fasting’. After a week, he called me and he said he wanted to set up a
meeting between me, my lawyer and the CEO for Range Rover franchise in
Ghana, Mr. Paul Prepraa, MD/CEO of PHC Motors and
I said ‘well, no problem so I went with my lawyer, my cousin Yaw and Paul
Prepaa was there at the meeting and the marketing representatives from Range
Rover were there and we started by having an informal meeting, we
talked about the car, what it represents, it is sexy, it is sophisticated, it
has the power of presence and that they think that I epitomize all these
features. And I said “oh, I am much honored, praise God” (laughs heartily).
“I absolutely love what she has done with her brand. She
knows when to have fun, she knows when to be serious, and I absolutely love
her. I think that is exactly what showbiz should be all about. Genevieve is a
household name in Nigeria; so I feel proud and honored to be in the same league
with her. Have you forgotten that Victoria Beckham the fashionista too is a
global face of the Range Rover E-Vogue brand? I mean these are sexy, hard
working women who are striving for nothing but the best”
From there on, we had few other meetings where we talked about the terms and
conditions that apply to me being the face of the car; that the car is for
young elites who are up and coming. It is an economical car, it has the power
of presence, when it passes people turn their heads in the direction of the
car. So, they wanted an item that will compliment the features of the car and
they thought it would be a good merger for the two of us to come together and
compliment each other; the car and myself and I was like ‘ok, there is no
problem’ and I am very grateful to God because I just came into ownership not
too long ago. But I guess it has to do with how you work on yourself and how
you keep your brand; it is all about branding. But most of the time in Africa
we always think of the show aspect and we don’t think of the business aspect until
you combine the two, you become a house hold brand that nobody can mess with
and I don’t really think I am a brand yet, I am still working on it but I think
the level I did was recognized by companies like Range Rover and PHC
Motors to want to make the face of a car like E-Vogue. To me, all the glory goes to God”

her worth in Dollars as regards her new deal with Range Rover could be
pretty difficult as she hers her own opinion about riches and richness “Let me
tell you, richness is relative. It depends, somebody can get a thousand dollars
and they say they are rich. Somebody could half of a million dollars and
somebody twenty million dollars and they still say they are broke, I think it
is relative. To me, it is not too much about money but it is too much about the
courage, it is too much about working hard to put Africa on the map when it
comes to entertainment and I think we are in an era when we are taking over
from the west when it comes to doing it and doing it right. Back in the days we didn’t have anything like
endorsement deals or modeling for a brand but now it is becoming something that
is gradually fitting into our society. It is up to us to work on our brands, to
be able to be proven to be an ambassador for a beautiful brand or an icon or
something. I think it is an amazing thing, it is not essentially about money
but to me it is the goodwill that goes with it; that you are ambassador for
something, you are an ambassador for malaria, you are an ambassador for HIV, it
makes you feel great, representing a course. So, the goodwill alone is bigger
than money or any other valuables”.
the very lovely and jovial Joselyn Dumas to reveal the figures
behind the Range Rover deal to you, she object and tells you success is
relative but right now she dashes you a hearty laugh before telling you what
comes with the deal in terms of pecks of office
“I got a car. I am driving a beautiful car (Laughs heartily and
cheerfully) I am driving a beautiful Range Rover E-Vogue. I am not
complaining (Laughter), I am telling you now, it is getting better and it can
only get better than this. I am very grateful to God for his benevolence upon
my life”.

Joselyn Dumas….The fashionista |
feels sharing a modeling contract with her Nigerian counterpart Genevieve
Nnaji, she jumped out her mood with great enthusiasm and asked this
blogger “Do you know how honored I am? I mean Genevieve is Genevieve,
believe me, my Goodness! I mean she is one person that I look up to. I
absolutely love what she has done with her brand. She knows when to have fun,
she knows when to be serious, and I absolutely love her. I think that is
exactly what showbiz should be all about. Genevieve is a household name in
Nigeria; so I feel proud and honored to be in the same league with her. Have
you forgotten that Victoria Beckham the fashionista too is a global face of the Range
Rover E-Vogue brand? I mean these are sexy, hard working women who are
striving for nothing but the best. So, to be in line with these people, I give
glory to God. So, Genevieve has worked hard; she is one person that if I am asked
to admire someone in Africa, I will say Genevieve. She and Omotola
Jalade, I admire their presence. They epitomize success, class, hard
work; everything that is great and good. They tell you to work hard and you
will succeed with anything that you wanted and to me it is a great honor to
share success lane with such women”.
“I don’t let it get into my head at all
because while growing up, my grand mother always told me ‘you are beautiful,
you are one beautiful girl. God made you beautiful. You are fearfully and
wonderfully made’. So, that thing is always in my head and when a guy tells
me “you are beautiful” it is something I
know already because my grand mother, my mother all told me that when I was
young, so it doesn’t get into my head. I think that is the way we all should
grow as women because men will tell you what you want to hear just to get what
they want.”
think might have worked for her in winning the deal that made her become the
face of Range Rover E-Vogue, Ghana, Joselyn Dumas attached it to the favor of
God “I think it is the favor of God; honestly there are so many people in Ghana
who could have gotten it but I think it is the favor of God and I say it
everywhere I go, it is the favor of God. There is somewhere in the Bible where
the Prophet Samuel came to the house
of Jesse to anoint a new king for Israel and Jesse kept putting forward all his tall and beautiful children for
anointing and the prophet after checking them kept saying ‘No, not this one’ up
to the very last one in that house and it was then David was remembered to be somewhere in the bush with the animals
and he was sent for and immediately he appeared, the prophet said “yes, that is
him” and he was anointed, crowned and elected king. That is my story. That is
all I can say; because I crave for success, I am still working hard and the
best is yet to come. I have a long way to go and to even be given this opportunity;
to me it is the grace of God, nothing else”.

of her and Genevieve being a single mother
this blogger but when it did, the bearer found the grace to answer it “Lets’
ask the oracle (Laughs) let’s ask the gods, I really don’t know. But like I
said, she is one woman that I look up to. She is very hard working and she is
beautiful, beautiful woman. So, I like her, I like the way she handles her
brand. But I think out of adversity come success. It depends on how you look at
it but if you think you are going to sit down and be crying ‘oh, life is so
hard, nobody cares for me’ nothing good
is going to get to you but if you turn the situation back and determine to be
successful the sky is the limit, nobody can stop you”. So, is there a room for a second marriage?, we aked the mother of
one and she replied in a jiffy “Oh, absolutely”. So, is there someone in
her life at the moment? She smiled and said “I have someone” as she struggles
hard to dodge the question. Is he a Nigerian
or a Ghanaian? “Noo, don’t do that, he is an African (Laughs) He is an amazing
person, that is all you need to know” (laughs heartily) as she tries hard to
make you go off such sensitive question.

guiding principle is reinvention. Everyday I think of ways to reinvent myself,
because after a while your talent becomes stale because we are living in a very
competitive world already where new ideas keep coming and crushing old ideas.
So, every night you find yourself in your bed you need to think of ways of
doing other things that can make you very relevant. There is always room for
improvement; when I started doing my show I had a lot of backlash; that ‘oh my
god she is too young, she cant do it, where did she come from, oh, pick her off
the camera and hid her somewhere and put somebody else’. I mean there were lots
of very harsh criticisms but I took many things out of that and paired it into
something that can work for me. I wanted to speak for myself because after a
while I lost hope in myself, I thought ‘do you really mean I cant do this?’ but
then I have to sit down and review myself; then I used to say ‘that guy that
said so-so thing about me, I am going to deal with him but my manager will say
‘no, don’t deal with him. He is a valuable tool for your personal reform’ and
soon I started to lay my hands on
anything that can aide my professionalism especially as regards talk show. I
took it as a habit to reinvent myself because reinvention is the key. You will
always have someone coming up behind you that is more talented than you do, you
cant afford to just sit in a place and be complacent saying ‘oh, I have
arrived’ no. work harder and the sky is your limit”.

Obama, I really admire her. I think she is the one holding the home
front for Barrack Obama. People don’t even realize her
relevance but she is one woman that keeps that guy in check. Honestly, she is
smart, she is educated, and she is sexy and very intelligent. And obviously I
admire Oprah Winfrey as well; I like what she has done with her brand
and how far she has gone to the point of owing her own TV Channel; how about me
doing even better than her?”
is Joselyn’s favorite profession?
honestly. I will not give up acting for television presenting and I will not
give up television presenting for acting. They are very demanding, so what I do
is to manage my time. I love what I do with each of them because even though
you are a TV presenter, you are still acting”.

Joselyn Dumas…..’The African entertainment will soon take over the west in terms of creativity’ |
adorable beauty coupled with a figure that drive heads rolling, we asked how
the actress is coping with the massive advancement from men folk who might want
to have a glimpse of her inner beauty. She exclaimed a “Wao” with a huge laugh
before giving us the antidote she uses in killing the advances “I think they
(Men) make the majority of my fan base and I love them all; there is so much
love to go round but it is quite hard to stay grounded when you are in the
spotlight like that but I thank God for the discipline and the fear of God my
mum instilled in me. I don’t let it get into my head at all because while
growing up, my grand mother always told me ‘you are beautiful, you are one
beautiful girl. God made you beautiful. You are fearfully and wonderfully made’.
So, that thing is always in my head and when a guy tells me “you are beautiful” it is something I know
already because my grand mother, my mother all told me that when I was young,
so it doesn’t get into my head. I think that is the way we all should grow as
women because men will tell you what you want to hear just to get what they
want.
So, once you are confident in yourself and you know ‘well, God made me
who I am, God made me beautiful’ anyone who emphasize it, I take it as a
compliment but it doesn’t get into my head. It is all about being grounded,
being truthful to yourself and knowing where you came from and where you are
going because once you let that get into your head you will lose focus and when
you lose focus where will these men be? They will not admire you anymore
like they did because they are moved by
what they see, your success and what you are doing and when you let that derail
you a bit you will lose focus. I don’t want to lose focus. So, I don’t let that
get to me. I don’t. I enjoy it, it could still be coming but I don’t let it get
to me”

Joselyn Dumas….’The power of seduction’ |
and it changed my perception of life a little bit. It was one book I read that
changed a lot about me because before then I used to think life was all about
what people think of you but the book taught me that you are what you think. I
thank God that I have had a Christian doctrine while I was growing up, I love
God and to me God comes first. The book ‘Secret’ also taught me that whatever
you seek comes to be; so, from then onset I have only spoken nothing but
positivity into my life and there is no way the universe will not agree with me
on that. It is whatever you speak to the universe, it gives you back. And that
book has really opened my horizon; look, things that people tell me ‘you can’t do’,
I tell myself ‘I can’, and I do them because the universe and I are working
together. And obviously the omnipotent God is there as a guiding light. That
book I must say is a great book. Another book that has changed me is “Woman
thou art loose” by TD Jakes.
This book taught me that you don’t let your pass define your future. So,
whatever you have been through is to make sure it works for you in the positive
not in the negative because if it works for you in the negative, you end up
losing and I don’t want to be a loser”.

Leadership
the encounter we asked the famous TV star to tell us what she is going to tell
a thousand five hundred female entrepreneurs if she finds the chance to be a
guest lecturer at a forum for African women and she gave her honest opinion “I
think the first thing I will say is that you are all beautiful because it is
high time we told our young girls that they are beautiful so that when they go
out and somebody is telling them these things, it wouldn’t be news to them. I
will tell them to not lose focus, I will tell them to be the best they can be
wherever they find themselves. We are all meant or cast to do the same thing
but you can be of relevant if you put in the work and strive to achieve nothing
but success. It is very important. I mean women have been told we are inferior,
I mean we are second class citizen or whatever; no, times have changed. Women
are doing things that men are doing now and even doing them better. So, it is
about time we instill that confidence in our women that you could be anything
you want to be if you put your mind to it and you work hard towards it”.
