Buhari, Amotekun, the Insurgency and Yoruba nation — Gen. Jemibewon

In this red exclusive encounter with Asabe Afrika TV inside his Lagos home somewhere in Ogudu G.R.A, Lagos State (West Africa) General David Medayese Jemibewon (CFR, Mni) an elder statesman and former Governor of old Western State of Nigeria under late General Murthala Mohammed’s regime between August 1975 and March 1976 speaks on the raging insurgency in the North Eastern Part of Nigeria and other parts of the country, the former Minister of Police Affairs came very hard on the Nigeria Police Force for moral decadence within the force.

Jemibewon who later became the first Governor of old Oyo State after Oyo, Ogun & Ondo were carved out of the old Western States also spoke on the newly established Operation Amotekun security outfit in the South West States of Nigeria.

The Iyah-Gbede, Kogi State born Army top brass ruled Oyo State under General Obasanjo’s military regime between March 1976 and July 1978 before he was promoted as Adjutant General of the Nigerian Army later in the year.

He came back to limelight in 1999 when he was appointed Police Affairs Minister under President Olusegun Obasanjo’s civilian regime, a position he held with trans-formative strides till year 2000.

He is reputed to be the minister who created and institutionalized the Police Service Commission (PSC).
