Health Workers In Ogun Charged To Increase Productivity

Adequate motivation and reward for
performance have been discovered as essential factors to achieve maximum
productivity and cooperation from the workforce.

The Ogun State Commissioner for
Health, Dr. Babatunde Ipaye disclosed this during a meeting with Chief Medical
Directors (CMDs) from the five State General Hospitals and Heads of zone in
Abeokuta.

Dr Ipaye decried the poor attitude
of some health workers to their duties, noting that the era of laziness and
lackadaisical attitude to work had gone.
He
explained that, a Performance Based Funding (PBF) would be introduced into the
health system where people who do more would earn more and also reward the most
active staff in order to increase performance, explaining that financial
leakages would be blocked in all health facilities to increase Internally
Generated Revenue.
Dr.
Ipaye urged the CMDs to be more creative in the ways they executive their jobs
and assignments, while advising the newly appointed Permanent Secretary in the
State Hospitals Management Board, Dr. Ekundayo Ayinde to ensure that his
advancement to the position of Permanent Secretary will add value to the health
sector in the State.
Responding
on behalf of other Medical Directors, Dr. Kayode Oladeinde called the attention
of Government on the need to renovate some structures in the State hospitals,
saying that Government intervention would put an end to some percentage of
their IGR being expended on incessant renovation of hospital buildings.
