Commander turned Evangelist Ebenezer Obey Fabiyi on stage

Ebenezer Obey and Taiwo Omotunde
entertained guests

Juju Maestro
turned Evangelist; Commander Ebenezer Obey
was the Chief Entertainer for the reception of Baba JB Ajayi’s funeral while
another big musician, Taiwo Omotunde
from Ibadan also performed. Their stages were set side-by-side on the field of
Orin-Ekiti High School where the reception held.  Taiwo
Omotunde
who is highly gifted started performing some two hours before the
arrival of Commander Ebenezer Obey,
he quickly left his own stage when Obey arrived as a mark of respect for a very
senior colleague. Taiwo Omotunde
only returned to stage four hours later when Obey was almost done. Although there were four major tents on Orin High School field with over 5000 guests but Baba’s children did
everything together. Chief (Mrs.) Modupe
Jemibewon’s
arcade drew many big wigs from Lagos and Abuja, while her
junior siblings controlled guests from others places including Oyo, Ondo

Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose’s Chief of Staff, Chief Dipo Anisulowo and his Ondo state counterpart Dr. Kola Ademujimi were some of the top
government functionaries from the two PDP states that stormed Baba JB Ajayi’s funeral. The two big
politicians were seen exchanging banters with each other and equally added
color to the event as majority of their supporters followed them down from
their respective states.

Senator Ayo Arise too

The
controversial Ekiti PDP Senator Ayo Arise was also at the event
and he really enjoyed himself to the fullest as he had friends and well-wishers
milling around his table with choice drinks and meals falling apart for his
consumption.

Why Senator Bode Mustapha spent 3
nights in Orin

If there was
one man who gave his very best to the event and equally supported the Jemibewon family well, it is the Egba born ex-PDP Senator turned APC
stalwart Senator Bode Mustapha. Bode Mustapha who is a  High chief
in Egba land and who was the Campaign Director for Senator Ibikunle Amosun’s re-election
bid in Ogun state was the cynosure of all eyes as he adorned his
trademark fashioned dress with his initials “BM” inscribed on the upper crust
of his grey attire. He had all the attention in the world from both politicians
and society women who wanted to get his phone number at all cost. The senator
who was in Orin since 7th
of August didn’t leave until 9th of August. On asking why Bode Mustapha was steep-deep with Orin people and Baba JB Ajayi’s family,  a
female source close to the palace of the late Olorin of Orin confided in this blog that Bode Mustapha is the Akinrogun of Orin Land. Can you beat
that?

Skye Bank Chairman too

Barrister John Olatunde Ayeni the Chairman of Skye Bank and major investor who bought NITEL through a consortium
was one of the big guests at the event; those close to the Jemibewons said Ayeni couldn’t
have done less as his growing years were actually spent under the tutelage of
the General. The General is said to be like a Big Uncle and one of the few Nigerians who encouraged the business
man and investor to dream big in his struggling days. He was fully on ground on
Saturday, August 8th as
he was seen alongside his uncle, General
David Jemibewon
receiving guests. He and Jemibewon later left Orin Ekiti
together with the Skye Bank
Chairman personally driving the retired Army General out of town.

Ex-Bond Bank MD, John Darlington
showed up

For a long
time, John Darlington, MD/CEO of the
defunct Bond Bank have disappeared
from the social scene only for him to re-appear at Orin Ekiti during Baba JB
Ajayi’s
funeral. He was seen at the church and later caught following the Skye Bank Chairman, Tunde Ayeni about. The light
complexioned John Darlington is rumored
to be working for some of Ayeni’s firms
including Skye Bank on the board
level.  He kept to himself all through
and ensured he never leave the ambience of Ayeni

Former First Lady, Mrs. Ajoke Murthala Mohammed

Late Gen. Murithala’s wife storm Orin
Ekiti

Wife of the
assassinated Nigerian head of state and one of the respected statesmen of his
time, General Ramat Murithala Muhammed,
Ajoke stormed Orin Ekiti for the
Jemibewons
. The aged Ajoke who
still wears a very fresh look despite her old age was sighted sitting alone and
keeping to herself all through the afternoon party of August 8th.  Efforts by several journalists to speak with Mama Murithala were passionately
rebuffed by her as she was not going to say anything to anyone. Since her
husband was assassinated on Friday February 13th 1976 in a military
putsch organized by Colonel Sukar Bukar Dimka, Ajoke has
remained very quite to a fault. Ajoke
Murithala Muhammed
is said to be very close to the Jemibewons of Kabba.

How Honey Bee sacked Bode Mustapha
from Obey’s stand

If there is
a medal for the best spender of cash on Commander
Ebenezer Obey’s
stage in Orin-Ekiti
that person would be no other than Abuja big textile merchant and founder of Honey Bee Textiles Ltd, Princess Bunmi Jegede as she
consistently appeared before the Juju music legend more than any other person
at the party. The Oke-Ana-Iwaraja-Ilesa,
Osun
state born textile merchant who is a protégé of Chief (Mrs.) Dupe Jemibewon was all out to make the best impression
as she hijacked the stage and serenade Commander
Ebenezer Obey
with her ‘cowries’ and party sense. The most arresting
occasion came when Honey Bee sacked Egba born Senator Bode Mustapha who was up stage spraying the musician when
she arrived. Honey Bee had stormed
the stage and tactically upstaged the senator as she took over and made the
senator to step down the stage with the musician changing his beat and singing
her praise to bits. She was on that stage for 5 different times and at
intervals. Party analysts who saw Honey
Bee’s
action said she would have spent a fortune on stage for the sake of
her big sister, Dupe Jemibewon.

Dr. Iyiola Adelekan too

Another man
who arrested the moment on Commander
Ebenezer Obey’s
band stand is the MD/CEO
of Macmillan Books, Ilupeju-Lagos Prince Iyiola Adelekan. The rich and
famous Owu-Egba born Prince Adelekan who is an in-law to Princess Bunmi Jegede (Honey Bee)
stormed the stage with his beautiful wife, Princess
Omolara Adelekan
who is a junior sister to the Abuja based Textile
merchant. They also dazzled the Juju Music maestro turned Evangelist with wads
of naira notes and almost competed with Honey
Bee
in terms of staying power. The Owu
born business man went a step further by asking the Juju music legend to
play a special number “Ko sogbon toleda” which is
the Prince’s favorite number from Obey’s old albums. He and his wife soaked
themselves in the melody and philosophy of the number for hours on Obey’s
stage, blessing the 73 years old musician in return with more wads of notes
before they left the stage leaving everyone dazzled with their “cash power”.
How much they spend? Please, let’s ask the Oba
lola of Owu first before publishing.
Question that got Kogi Deputy Gov.
rattled
Yomi Awoniyi the Deputy Governor of Kogi state is
the scion of the famous Imopa, Kogi
state born statesman, Chief Sunday
Bolorunduro Awoniyi
(CON) of blessed memory. His late father was a Senator
for Kogi West between July 1993 and November 1993 and was at a time Chairman of
the Pan Northern Nigeria group, Arewa
Consultative Forum
between December 2003 and November 2007 and later died
on November 28th 2009 at age 75. Although the Deputy Governor’s
father could be said to be a Yoruba of the Northern Nigerian stock and was the Aro
of Mopa
at his Mopa-Muro Local
Government
Area of Kogi state but his association with the
Arewa Consultative Forum as its
leader nearly brought a question to his identity either as a Yoruba man or
Hausa man but he was able to remain a Yoruba with his name Bolorunduro and Awoniyi making
the difference. That was why while fielding questions from a TV Journalist in Orin Ekiti and Yomi, the scion of the Awoniyi
dynasty was asked if he was a
Yoruba and if he could speak in the dialect, he was a bit rattled with a huge
laughter escaping his chubby cheek. The Deputy Governor buried his head in his
arms for 5 minutes, looked up to the female journalist and said to her “You are
a great woman” before bursting with more laughter, saying “Question yen strange ga’an” (That question is strange). He asked
in Yoruba dialect with more surprises on his face “Sepe mi o jo Yoruba ni abi bawo?” (Is it that I don’t look like a
Yoruba or what?) He followed up with a strong declaration “Yoruba gidi ni mi lati
Imopa”
(I am a genuine Yoruba from Imopa) before offering his greetings in
Yoruba dialect.
