A very strong personality with a tender
approach to life, Chika shocked this
blogger on Monday December 14 when he was invited for a Studio Interview at Silverbird Television in Lagos. Despite
my lateness by ten minutes, this tall, stylish and beautiful girl rushed at me
and changed my looks in just two minutes. I decided to pin her down for an
interview after my session on STV and she turned out to not just be a bundle of
talent but an epitome of beauty and good philosophies. I must confess, Chika wowed me with her majestic talent
and her understanding of life issues. She read law but practices as a make-up
artiste. This natural girl is angry that majority of young men of these days
are fickle minded entities with no intellectual substance. Find a quite moment

My name is Chika Maduneme. I am from Anambra state, South Eastern Nigeria.
I was very surprised with the way you
changed my looks this morning under few seconds before going on air, how did
you became a make-up artist?

Well, I will
say the Job began me. I didn’t decide the job the job decided me. It began when
I was doing my Youth Service (NYSC) and I was looking for means of income and I
just felt ‘okay, why not invest in make up and then I can always do anything
with the proceeds’ and subsequently I like the issue making people look
beautiful. I like beautiful faces, beautiful places, and beauty in general. I
like aesthetic and that was what really fired my zeal. I can make somebody look
beautiful, I can make somebody sound beautiful I can make people look beautiful
and I am just generally a beauty inclined person, that is me and that is my
brand.

the first child of my parent, we are three and I was an only child for a very
long time. I come from a very traditional family. I am quite old but up till
now, I am not allowed to live on my own. You have to be under a leadership
structure because I came from a family that believes that a woman is always
under authority. You are first of all a daughter, a sister, a wife and a mother
and at every point in time, you are under an authority. For instance now, when
I go out I do have a curfew. By 8pm I should be home. No matter where I am and
wherever I go I should be back home by 8pm.

While growing up as a kid did you
ever thought you were going to become a make-up artiste or there were other
dreams you had?

still have my dreams because make-up is not the only thing that I do I sell out

Trust me,
the hustling is real. Trust me; I have to hustle because I believe that every
human being has a talent inside of him because I don’t believe any human being
is born empty. We are actually born with something inside us because if you
look at the parable of the talent hunt in the Bible, where the master gave one
talent, two talent and five talents to three servants and we had two of the
servants (The one with two and five talents) multiplying theirs while the other
one (The one with one talent) hide his own talent. I feel that every human
being has something to contribute to the society you find yourself, it will be
a very big shame if you go back to God with all the talents He has put inside
of you without utilizing them. There are
lots of things that go on inside of me everyday and my prayer is that by the
time I die I want to have actualize everything. That is my prayer.

I don’t know
because it seems that it is not working enough, as you can see there is no ring
on my finger and somehow I can see that the influence of Pop culture has really
derailed a lot of men. What we have today to forgive my word are “half baked
boys” who like sagging their trousers and wearing golden chains with no
intellectual maturity to compliment. And I keep wondering where are the real
men, where are they? Where are they? Where are they really? I want to believe
that we now have a lot of males in today’s society with scarcity of men. There
is a scarcity of real men in town.

grow, there must be pressure to be something and to make yourself grow. If in
2014 I was at 5% by 2015 I should expect to be at 15% but today, people expect
things to be handed over to them on a platter of gold. And again, we know there
are no jobs in the country, the society is not fair in that area and the
saddest part of everything is that schools keep bringing out thousands of
graduates every year and you ask yourself ‘where are the jobs? There are no
jobs, you know. And then, you expect that
old people up there that are
expected to retire at 65 will give a plan that will accommodate the incoming
crowd of young people; we cant predict that a thousand of people in this age
bracket will be retiring in a year so that we can have the new younger
generation come in and take newer positions. So, what happen is that the
younger ones whose opportunities have been curtailed by the unyielding old ones
must think inward. This old ones are not going to retire for the younger ones
to take charge or create a new lease of life for them, so, they need to take
charge of their own life as well. But the irony is that they don’t want to look
inward and find out the talent God has actually deposited in them and do
something to exhibit and exploit that hidden talent. You see, when a man goes
inside himself and look for what he can make profit out of his person, trust
me, that man will earn my respect.

I was actually expecting you to give
your preferred height as part of the criteria?

I like to be
myself because beauty has been put into a box in our society because girls
believe that if I don’t have a human hair, if I don’t have all long nails on,
if I don’t have pencils on long nails it means that I am not a “complete girl”.
I feel the most important aspect of beauty is for you to be natural and be
yourself, don’t try to make the assumption of over expressing yourself. Be
yourself, if I want make hair with human braids fine, if I want short hair
fine. If I want to make my hair into the Primary School and secondary school

very strange reactions like you are doing now anytime I say this. I believe
with law, I have opportunity to do many things because law as a discipline has
no expiring date. It is something you always practice at the right time and
there are lots of branches of law, there is corporate law, there is marine law,
there is real estate law and a lot of them. So, law is a discipline that is
flexible yet influential. No matter the aspect of the economy, there is always
a law that actually backs it up. I am not yet aware of maybe, make-up law.

Would you be practicing law someday?
There is
very huge, huge possibility for me to practice law. I may be here next year and
I may be out of this place next year because there are a lot of things inside
of me and I wont put my self down on something because my goal in life is to be
able to work from my house and then have time for my kids and my entire family
all from my house.

something that is not trending. Something that is classic, something that

I love
intelligent conversation really; I love intelligence because that is what
sells. When I speak with you for the first five minute I can read your level of
intelligent quotient (IQ) and in most cases a lot of people fall short of high
IQ and that is somehow embarrassing.

to be honest. You probably won’t catch me wearing something that if my biro
falls down I may not be comfortable to pick it up. I will not be seen wearing
something very short and then I will try to drag it down or something be very
uncomfortable in it. Like I said, fashion is all about wearing something that
is inside of you, you will feel very confident.
