Meet First Nigerian who bought a foreign football club

Aliko Dangote

It is not every day,
one hears of an African, a Nigerian specifically, playing big in the
international football scene. What with Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote unable to secure his
dream club, Arsenal to invest into.

Well, Kunle Soname, the President of
Nigeria National League (NNL)
team, Remo Stars Football clubs
and owner of Bet9ja, seems to have broken that jinx as he has become the
first Nigerian to own a top European football club by buying Portuguese
second division side, Clube Desportivo Feirense.

The
socialite, who also runs Tavisstock Global Resources Ltd, secured
70
percent
shareholding of the club, which last played in
2011. His coming on board as major owner of Clube Desportivo Feirense
is seen as a desired move that will see the European club picking up the bits
and pieces of a fallen stardom and raise to the rank of one of Europe’s leading
clubs once again.
