sector, has over the years been able to maintain her status as an icon in the
herbal slimming industry.

She is the pioneer Secretary General of the umbrella body of Traditional Medicine Practitioners in Nigeria; and an adviser on
the development of African traditional medicine for World Health Organization (WHO). While hosting Africa’s number 1
Celebrity Encounter blog Asabeafrika recently
in her office, Dr. Quincy who lost
her father, 88 years old Chief Amos
Oluwole Sodimu
(The Olori Aje of
Egba Gbehin) and equally planning to give him a befitting funeral on Friday
June 19 and Saturday June 20 in Abeokuta spoke on some of her re-packaged and
re-branded slimming and general health products. It was an ageless Dr. (Mrs.) Quincy Olasumbo Ayodele who spoke to Asabeafrika on how her first daughter Dr. (Mrs.) Tobi Ayodele
Keeney,
a scientist gave a total overhaul and turn around to all her
products and brands. She also shared the horrible experience of her husband’s
kidnap saga in 2010 and how late President
Umar Yar Adua
helped the family personally. So, who is Quincy’s role model? Coca-cola!
Why? Read and find out.

An array of Quincy’s newly re-invented and re-branded products
Quincy
to Asabeafrika….’President Muhammadu Buhari is a lover of traditional
medicine and i believe he will legislate the general usage’

Quincy Slimming Garri is one of your
products which is making wave in town. Could you tell us the secret behind the
brand?

The Slimming Garri has always been one of
our major products but many people didn’t know it with that name. It was
actually my first daughter (Mrs. Tobi Ayodele Keeney) who joined the Quincy
Group that rebranded most of our slimming products and re-packaged them and
that was how we re-named it “Slimming Garri” because it looks
like Garri
and feels like Garri but not one made out of Cassava, so it is not
Cassava Garri but it is Garri. If you are obese (Obesity)
and you take slimming Garri, it will
blast your tummy and halt your appetite and reduce your cholesterol quotient.
It is highly recommended for diabetic patients and it can be used as meal
replacement. Anytime you don’t feel like eating anything, you can take your slimming Garri and it will be as if you
have eaten.

“You can put a tea spoon of the tummy
blaster tea in a mug of water and let it steam for like 5 to 10 minutes and
then you drink it, maybe once or twice daily. It will curb your appetite and
you wont feel like eating that much”

Dr. Quincy chatting with the GDA

Can one add milk to it when drinking?

You cannot
add milk to it because Milk is not good for people who are trying to slim down
and it is sweet already because it comes with natural plant sweetener and you
don’t have to add Sugar. If you are slimming down, you should not think of
Sugar, you should not think of drinking liquid milk you are only allowed to
drink skimmed milk but you cannot put milk in this.
Another array of awards in Quincy’s office

I was looking at it from the
perspective of my garri Ijebu with
Milk, and that was why I asked if one can drink it alongside with milk?

Not at all,
I can tell you that Quincy Slimming Garri is highly nutritious and it will slim you
down naturally with no side effect. It won’t let you have a pot belly; if you
already have one it will reduce it; the benefits are equally many even slim
people could take it for health maintenance and detoxification.
Quincy to Asabeafrika….’There is abundance of wealth in traditional medicine that in oil’

So, what about the Quincy Sheer
Butter brand, what is it all about?

That is what
is called “Oori” among the Yoruba
people, it is for everybody, this is our own Nigerian Oori packaged by Quincy and Oori
as you know is a good skin moisturizer and it is equally an
anti-inflammatory product for the skin and a natural product for soft skin.
Quincy to Asabeafrika….’Slimming Garri is good for obese people because it curbs their apetite’

What about Tummy blaster Herbal Tea?

In fact, it
is one of our prime products which have done so well in terms of demands. It is
strictly for fats people or obese people. You can put a tea spoon of the tummy
blaster tea in a mug of water and let it steam for like 5 to 10 minutes and
then you drink it, maybe once or twice daily. It will curb your appetite and
you wont feel like eating that much. It can detoxify you and send out excess
fat from your system and your tummy will be going down naturally.
Quincy to Asabeafrika….’Our Products are now of global standards’

What about Q-Bridge plus Face lotion?

It is part
of our skin line, Quincy has a skin line now and it is a range of product from
the stable of Quincy Herbal Medicine.
We have so many brands under this range of products. We have the skin illuminating lotion and anti-stretch mark intensive repair cream
with collagen
. We also have the powder wash. It is like a family in the
range, you use the powder wash first and then apply the syrup and you now use
the skin illuminating as third action. My daughter brought in a lot of ideas
and concept that has shot our products up. You know I told you in those days,
that they (Daughters) said to us that they are coming to reform and revamp Quincy and today we have them around.
They are fully into the business and today you can see the revolution
happening.

“They brought out all their
sophisticated gadgets and the minister of communication was fully involved in
the search. The minister of defense, the police and SSS, every reputable agency
of government came into action and the response was just overwhelming”.

As a former Secretary General of the
traditional medicine council of Nigeria and Special Adviser to WHO on
development of African Medicine, what will you advice new Government of General
Muhammadu Buhari to do concerning legislating the use of traditional medicine
in Nigeria?
I personally,
I am an advocate of the General
Muhammadu Buhari
administration, I believe so much in the change that he is bringing and I voted
for him based on that. I made sure that I voted for him and equally made my
entire house hold to vote for him
GDA display a package of Quincy Slimming Garri

You mean you didn’t travel out of the
country during the election period like many elites did?

I was
actually in America but I made sure I came back from America to Nigeria so that
I can vote and I ensure my people voted for him and I can say everybody voted
for him because we believe that things will change. There is something about
him that is peculiar; his image and passion for change. I sincerely believe
that he is not going to fail and he will not fall. That is my prayer for him
and I know God will use him to perform wonders in this country and we will
support him both in prayer and in anyway government feel we can help them
achieve success.  So, when you talk about
traditional medicine, I know President
Buhari
knows the benefits of traditional medicine and he equally knows that
it is an economic window for the nation. He is a farmer and someone familiar
with that industry and I know he will ensure they pass the bill on traditional
medicine. I am sure one of his main objectives will be medical reforms and
passing of the bill supporting the use of traditional medicine will be one of
his main objectives. We are looking out of oil economy soon and traditional
medicine is one of the areas where a country can generate and build a robust
economic base that will be a buffer for our numerous economic development,
today, countries like China, India and the rest of them are making
great economic income from medicine but I can tell you that we can do same
here, we are capable because the vegetations are there. The herbs are
everywhere and the technical know how is available. So, why can’t our country
develop it? Everything is ready, traditional practitioners are ready with
registered certificates. The raw materials which are the plants are ever ready
in the bushes and the only thing we need now is just the bill to back it up.

“I know President Buhari knows the benefits of traditional medicine and he
equally knows that it is an economic window for the nation. He is a farmer and
someone familiar with that industry and I know he will ensure they pass the
bill on traditional medicine. I am sure one of his main objectives will be
medical reforms and passing of the bill supporting the use of traditional
medicine will be one of his main objectives”

Can you take a political appointment
as a minister if you are called upon to serve?

Politically,
there is nothing wrong in giving service. If my country desires my service and
we have a proper understanding of course I will not decline government’s
request but I am not going to apply or campaign for such a job. I am a
professional and an inventor in the area of traditional medicine but if
Government comes seeking for my knowledge and service in my area of competence,
I will volunteer.
Quincy to Asabeafrika…’Our Products are being re-branded for maximum global consumption’

Do you think we already have solution
to HIV/AIDS or the research is ongoing?

As a
traditional medicine practitioner, we believe that to every disease, there is a
cure in nature. So, even if we don’t have the solution now, we will eventually
get it because research is inconclusive. Research is continuous and it is only
a continuous research that will bring an eventual solution.
Quincy
to Asabeafrika….’Late President Yar Adua personally showed interest
in the resque of my husband from kidnappers’ den in 2010′

Your husband just left for the
airport; in 2010 he was kidnapped by some kidnappers in Abuja. Would you say
that was your saddest experience in life?

I am still
living and I don’t wish to have another sad experience again but I didn’t like
what happened but at the same time, I wasn’t angry with the government of the
day. The man at the helms of affairs then was President Umar Yar Adua and he was quite supportive even with the
American government too. They brought out all their sophisticated gadgets and
the minister of communication was fully involved in the search. The minister of
defense, the police and SSS, every reputable agency of government came into
action and the response was just overwhelming. Everybody came to Abuja to
support me in searching for my darling husband, even the president himself was
busy calling me, telling me to keep calm that everything will be fine and at
the end of it all, I thank God everything was indeed fine. My husband was
rescued and delivered to me alive. I am grateful to God and I am most grateful
to President Umar Yar Adua, may God bless his departed soul.
He was a very responsive and responsible president. I thank the Nigerian
government and the American government for their great support and response.
Today, we have learnt a lot of lesson from that experience.
Dr. Quincy with her loving husband, Engineer Ayodele

Have you ever taught of writing your
memoir?

I don’t
think I have gotten to that age yet. Maybe someone like you can begin to write
about it but I am still experimenting. I see the rebranding of our brands as a
preliminary for creating generational wealth. When the wealth begins to come
then we can write the story of how it all began. We are coming. We are on every
platform right now, mention it—Jumia.com on Amazon.com and I can say it is the
beginning of the great wealth transfer but never say never, you people can
start writing.
The Herbal Family; Dr. Quincy, Dr. Keeney & Engineer Ayodele

Do you have a role model?

My mother
in-law was my role model before she passed on. However, one other big brand
that is my role model is Coca-Cola
because just like Quincy, Coca Cola started from nothing to
something. Today, it is a world brand and we are all proud of Coca-Cola.
‘The Quincy tummy buster Tea is a tea that keeps everyone in shape’ Quincy says to GDA

What is the secret of success?

The secret
of success is focus and the ability to succeed in everything you lay your hands
on without failure in any. Ability to succeed in everything without failing in
any, that is secret to success and for you to be able to achieve that, you need
focus, that is the real thing. You have to focus on your goal, no distraction.
There can be hardship but please, keep going. Put your eyes on the ball and
don’t falter. Keep doing it, if you fall, stand up again and keep walking until
your legs are strong for the battle ahead.
