Rev. Roselyn Oduyemi Part 2: How my late husband converted an African President with his wrist-watch and Limousine + How to avert crisis in Nigeria 2015

In this concluding part of our
encounter with the General Overseer of Bethel
Wonder City
, Lekki, Lagos South West Nigeria, Reverend (Mrs.) Roselyn Oduyemi, we got you intimate revelations
about the kind of life her late husband, Prophet
Gabriel Oduyemi
lived before his departure to the great beyond 9 years ago.

The founding president of Roselyn Oduyemi
Global Outreach
(ROGO) have a special assignment for Nigeria and Nigerians
through her new spiritual interventionist movement, the 1-1-1 prayer movement where she is encouraging ten million
Nigerians to engage in a one minute prayer at 1pm of everyday in January 2015
to avert the deadly prophecy and likeable break up of Nigeria as predicted by
the United States of America couple of years back. “Irrespective of their faith
and religion and irrespective of whatever they are doing, at 1pm of every
single day of January 2015, just say a prayer for Nigeria to remain one and
peaceful” Reverend Oduyemi enthused
during her encounter with asabeafrika
in Lagos. The dynamic woman of God also commented on the recent marriage crisis
rocking the Christendom between Pastor
Christian Oyakhilome
of Christ
Embassy
Church and his wife, Pastor
Mrs. Anita Oyakhilome
. Enjoy more of the story of the life and times of Prophet Gabriel Oduyemi through his widow, Roselyn
Oduyemi.

“We are saying if you are in your
market shop, you are in your office or even driving your car, wherever you are, 1pm in the afternoon, just pray that
prayer and the prayers are not going to be long winded. Just one sentence, it
is a matter of faith, believing”

The Prayer we must pray in 2015…
Reverend Mrs. Roselyn Oduyemi began with the reason for
her new assignment which is to sensitize Nigerians on the efficacy of prayer
and how it can save the country from breaking up in year 2015 “The 1-1-1
concept is about unity and averting of bloodshed, chaos and mayhem” the ROGO
founder begins and went on “It is a prayer movement calling on all Nigerians to
come together to call unto God for our country, we don’t want war; we don’t
want blood shed in 2015. In 2015, everybody is expecting trouble but we are
saying that we want 2015 to come and pass peacefully. Elections will take
place, whoever wants to be in power will be there and we will continue with our
mission and daily life. So, the 1-1-1
prayer movement
is calling on all Nigerians to come together and pray; one
prayer point at the same time as one nation

“So we met with the president and my
husband began to minister to him and he was a very arrogant person, he is still
alive. He is a very arrogant man and I understand. Did you know what happened?
That man just saw the wrist-watch my husband was wearing, it was the same brand
that president was wearing. That changed everything, you can’t believe it. I
was there. Just something as simple as a wrist watch because he now knew he was
talking to somebody that was on equal pedestal with him and that was how that
man got saved”.

Why Nigerians must take this prayer
serious
Speaking
further on why she has taken it open herself to lead the cause for a prayer
movement that will change the fortune of Nigeria, Reverend Oduyemi said “I have come as a concerned citizen, I know
so many people have been praying, thank God for that, I appreciate that, I
honor that and I respect that but we have come to mobilize all Nigerians
irrespective of class, religion, irrespective of anything to come together and
pray in unity, one prayer point at the same time as one nation.  I am not talking about God showing me
anything but when you look at the polity and you look at our nation, you don’t
need to be a prophet to see what is going on; you read our papers there is just
so much chaos; there is a fight for the soul of our nation and I believe that
as a people we can fight it, as a nation, not just as a church or as Christians
but as a nation. Please when Nigerians sit together these days, what do they
talk about? They talk about the breaking of the country and all that. I don’t
know about the politics of all of that but I listen to the news, I hear things,
I see things. And I just believe that maybe God has just given me this strategy
for us to come together. He has been talking to different people and they have
been doing the different things that God has been asking them to do. I am not
saying my ideas are the best, I am saying that it is adding to that which has
been going on. Somebody may come out tomorrow with something else, I will join
them but the most important issue is for our country to progress, for there to
be peace in our country. We don’t want war. We don’t want confusion, we don’t
want chaos we don’t want bloodshed. We are a democratic nation, we want peace.
That is why I am here”.

“And for the young ladies, you meet a
man, he is handsome, he has a good job and drives a nice car but you don’t know
that he carries a lot of garbage; the woman too carries garbage and the garbage
has got to be brought down before they even come together because if that
garbage is still there the garbage will start coming out when they are together
and that will cause problem”

I am not a Jonah but I am……
We
asked the woman of God if she is equally playing the role of the Biblical Jonah
to the City of Nineveh; to which she responded in the negative “No, I am just a
concerned Nigerian; you see I am scared of all those titles, I am just coming
as a concerned Nigerian and I am just coming for us to understand certain
things and come together. It is just a mobilization of like-minds for a single
purpose of ensuring peace and stability in Nigeria. And you know that when Nineveh repented there was progress.
So, that is it; and when God forgave Nineveh,
Jonah got upset. (Laughter); he got upset and said “God that is how you are,
you are always merciful” so I am not coming in that frame of Jonah but as a
concerned Nigerian citizen”
How we can avert disintegration in
2015
 Reverend
Oduyemi

analyzed her fears and advised country men accordingly “Right now everybody is
talking of breaking up in 2015 just because the United States predicted it couple
of years back.  Everybody is talking
about it and when people think about 2015 they are frightened; there is a
spirit of fear cast over this land. Bombs are going off everyday in many parts
of the country; things are being blown apart, there is fighting here and there.
The other day we watched it on the Television they were fighting at the
national assembly. That is just the spirit that is trying to take over our
land. So, we need to come out as a nation, as a nation irrespective of class.
Irrespective of tribe, irrespective of religion, we need to go to God as one
people and say ‘Father, intervene in the affairs of our nation’. Because we
don’t want war, if there is war can we sit here and be talking? Look at a
nation like Syria; can you believe
what is happening there? Look at Congo,
look at Sudan look at Somalia, look at all these nations. I mean there is just
trouble, trouble everywhere. But we believe in Nigeria. I came here because I
believe in Nigeria; I believe that we can have a new Nigeria. I am seeing a new
Nigeria; that is the vision I have. I see Nigeria as a great nation, as a
fantastic country, as a beautiful country. I see Nigeria as a leader in the
community of nations and I believe that we will get there but we cannot allow
bloodshed, we cannot allow confusion we cannot allow hatred to thrive. Now,
when we come together as a people we are saying we don’t hate one another. You
are a Muslim I don’t hate you I love
you; you are from Sokoto, you are from Minna, you are from Calabar, you are from
Nupe, you are from Ondo state, you are from Lagos God brought us together and
each one of us has something to offer. We are gifted in different ways. Do you
know what will happen if we all come together with our gifts? It will be
awesome and do you know people are still looking up to Nigeria, you go to any
part of the globe, once you say you are a Nigerian you are respected, I don’t
care what people say. They respect you because they know we have got something
good. Why would we allow ourselves to destroy these good things that God has
given us?”
 “Of
course,
I am
not afraid; I am only concerned because I know that God can intervene and do
it. Now, the way things are going, I mean anybody will be concerned. Anybody
who loves Nigeria will be concerned and I believe and there is many millions of
us who believe that God can intervene, we have seen it happen before in our
nation and we believe that He can do it again”
How we will coordinate the prayer
session
Reverend Mrs. Oduyemi gave a graphic detail of
how the prayer will be coordinated nationwide “Weather they are Muslims,
Buddhists, Christians or any religion everybody is concerned. Now, we are not
gathering people in one place. We are saying if you are in your market shop,
you are in your office or even driving your car, wherever you are, 1pm in the afternoon, just pray that
prayer and the prayers are not going to be long winded. Just one sentence, it
is a matter of faith, believing. You see when God came down to help the Hebrews in Egypt when they were in slavery the people were crying out to God.
They were working and praying; they were not saying ‘come together’ no,
wherever you are, whatever you are doing; just have it in your consciousness
that millions of Nigerians are at this same time praying the same prayer for one minute. That is just it and it is
for everyday for the entire month of
January, 2015
. We can’t forget that, that is why we are trying to bring it
into people’s consciousness through the media. Television houses, radio
stations, churches, offices, schools, universities let the campaign go viral.
We just want to spread it so that people will know about it”
Why Society is growing worse &
what we need to do
The
Bethel G.O lamented on the high rate of social ills that had bedeviled the society
in all strata from family life to relationship, education and partnership “We
need to talk about these things, we need to repent, and we need to educate
people. Education is very important, people need to know, there have to be
awareness. We need to shout, we don’t accept it. They are unacceptable things;
we need to preach it from our pulpits and preach it in our mosques. We need to
constantly talk about it”
Why girls of today are going wayward
On
why today’s girls have taken indecency as a second nature, Reverend Oduyemi says the solution does not lies with mother alone
but must start with fathers “We are talking about parents not just mothers
because the father has a major role to play. For example the first person a
girl child will fall in love with is her dad. So, we are talking about families
being together and raising values. Values that they adhere to, values that they
put into the kids; you know the Bible says train a child in the way they should
go and when they are old they won’t depart from it; even if you look at the
society for example, without preaching the Bible, there are certain things that
even as a culture, certain things are not acceptable. So we need to pray, we
need to do a lot of prayer because we have to know something; the enemy is
fighting our children. The enemy is fighting the next generation. It is a war,
we need to know that there is a war going on, we need to know that there is a
battle, a spiritual warfare and we should be ready to fight. It is not easy
even for parents, but we must just continue to tell them the truth and pray for
them. A child who is prayed for can never be lost”
Why marriages don’t last any longer
On
why marriages are now breaking up in the society and women not honoring marital
vows again, the GO of Bethel Ministries
laid the blame at the door step of the couple “Again I don’t blame church
leaders, you teach people and you pray that they obey. Counseling, most
churches do counseling before marriage but I am also saying that I realize that
counseling is even more important after the wedding. Because when they are
preparing for their wedding they are busy thinking about Aso Ebi, thinking of color, thinking of this and that; having a boy
friend is different from having a husband. So, counseling should continue after
wedding. And people must understand that it is a covenant you don’t just walk
in and walk out of it.  It starts and end
with counseling and for married people to go for counseling is another big
challenge, you know a lot of married people hide. They don’t want people to
know their problems. If the pastor doesn’t know what they are going through
what do you want the pastor to do? And for the young ladies, you meet a man, he
is handsome, he has a good job and drives a nice car but you don’t know that he
carries a lot of garbage; the woman too carries garbage and the garbage has got
to be brought down before they even come together because if that garbage is
still there the garbage will start coming out when they are together and that
will cause problem. But then if there is garbage there is counseling, there is
prayer, there is assistance. People should look for help and pray because
prayer is powerful and it can change and shape destinies”
Why Pastors need jets
One
topical issue this blog put to Reverend Mrs.
Oduyemi
was the one relating to Men of God buying private jets and taking
the whole kingdom work like a capitalist intention. But the G.O of Bethel Wonder City whose husband is the first man of God in Nigeria to own
a private jet has a different opinion concerning the issue “My husband was the
first pastor to own a private jet in this country for the sake of evangelism.
It was strictly for evangelism; now, what is wrong for a pastor owing a private
jet? Take somebody like Baba Adeboye, do you know how many parishes
he has all over the world? If he is to go by commercial airlines he won’t be
able to accomplish anything. I was in Israel
last month and we had a service for the president, now Bishop Oyedepo preached and Pastor
Ayo Oritsejafor
was there and we had several men of God at the event. Do
you know what it means for them to leave their various churches? Now Bishop Oyedepo I spoke to him because I
went to greet him and he said to me ‘I am going back to Nigeria tonight’
because he went there to do a job and he did it very well and he left after the
assignment. These are busy people, so this jet, jet, jet is not for fun. And
when you talk about chatter, it is just for them to maintain the jet because
maintaining a plane is very expensive. Now, why will people buy jets? People
buy jets for flying into parties but we are talking about something for the
kingdom, building the kingdom, expanding the kingdom. It is just because people
have this mindset that church people must be poor. It is wickedness; our God is
not a poor God. He owns everything and as long as what He blesses us with is
used for the kingdom it is okay”
How my husband converted a president
with his Wrist-watch
 “I
will tell you a story; a president of a nation invited us when my husband was
alive. I won’t call his name. So, we flew into his country; we initially had a
crusade in one nation and we flew into another nation. Now, you will discover
that flying within Africa is not a joke, it is very difficult. Now if you go on
a crusade there is your team with you, you go with equipments, lights and you
have your technicians and all the people with you, you are paying hotel bills.
Now after the crusade you want to leave and they are telling you that the next
flight is next week, you are there paying bills. Anyway, we flew into this
nation and the president invited us. So we met with the president and my
husband began to minister to him and he was a very arrogant person, he is still
alive. He is a very arrogant man and I understand. Did you know what happened?
That man just saw the wrist-watch
my husband was wearing, it was the same brand that president was wearing. That
changed everything, you can’t believe it. I was there. Just something as simple
as a wrist watch because he now knew he was talking to somebody that was on
equal pedestal with him and that was how that man got saved. When he got saved
we started fasting and praying with him, we had a crusade in his nation and he
will call for us to pray with him and fast with him. The first time he met my
husband my husband was just wearing up and down native attire and all that but
he will see my husband and say to my husband, ‘Pastor, I like your tie, I like
your suit, I like your shoe’ this is a president of a nation. Yes, because
people need to know this things; to reach certain people you have to appear in
a certain way. There are places I have gone to minster and women look at me,
people look at me and say ‘well, we look at you and we are thinking if you are
like this, we can follow Jesus’. Do you see it? So, it is not about the
flamboyance of it, people have got it wrong; it is about the kingdom; expanding
the kingdom of God that is what it is all about. It is not for our personal
aggrandizement. Let me tell you another story, we had a crusade in another
nation. In that nation they said they don’t want any Christian adverts
bla-bla-bla. Now when the coordinating pastors from that nation came to us to
talk about the strategy for the crusade, the pastors said they wanted to take
the picture of the Limousine and I said ‘darling, this people will keep talking
about you’ my husband said ‘who cares, whatever they want to do, let them do’.
Do you not know, these pastors told us themselves that when they went back to
their nation, the minister of information of that nation said ‘is it that
pastor with that Limousine? Put his advert on radio, put it on television”. I
am telling you. So, you can use anything to win soul for Christ. Another thing
is let us leave men of God alone. Do you know what it is that one day they will
all stand before God to give an account? It is not a joke. I don’t criticize
people, whatever you are doing weather you are a man of God or not, a woman of
God or not, one day, you will stand before the God of heaven and earth to give
an account. He will judge all of us, it is a serious thing, and it is a fearful
thing. The Bible says you teachers, those of us who teach His word would even
be judged from a higher standard. So, it is scary”
On Pastor Chis & Anita
Oyakhilome’s divorce crisis….
When
we threw the question to her for her opinion as a church leader she took a
brief silence before making her equally brief opinion “The Bible says God hates
divorce, now I don’t know the facts I don’t know the details so I can’t really
say this is what to say or not to say. God hates divorce but then again as
human beings we are frail, we have failings, we have faults, so things happen.
Just as God hates divorce he is also a restorer. So, since I didn’t counsel
them, I don’t know what happened, I can’t really talk about it”.
Secret of looking young and pretty
“Jesus!”
she exclaimed and spoke further “And you know it is a rare thing to stay in
God’s presence. When you are with drunkards, it will rub off on you, when you
are with people who smoke Indian hemp, it will rub off on you because the
company you keep matters. I keep God’s company”.
My normal day starts with….
“I usually do midnight prayers; so the day
start at midnight. That is how I start my day then I sleep a bit, have my juice
if I am not fasting. But living a fasted life is very good”. “If I am not
fasting then I take fruit juice. I do a lot of juice thing, I eat a lot of vegetable;
there are a lot of things I don’t eat. I watch what I eat”.
Foods that keep me in shape
I don’t like red meat, I don’t eat
pounded yam, I don’t eat ogbono, and
I don’t eat egusi soup. I don’t like
Oil (Red Oil), I don’t like cow leg, I don’t like Shaki, and I don’t like Ponmo
and all the rest. I eat more of fish. I love tilapia, I eat a lot of it, I don’t eat Obokun fish, and I eat chicken
without the skin. I don’t do frying; I hate fry, fry, fry, fry; my food is very
simple.  Very, very simple, I am not good
with Dairy products, so I stay away from Dairy. I take a lot of water and
herbal tea really. My life is very, very simple. I love nature, I love to stay
in my garden, I love plants; I love fresh air. I am not into air conditioning;
my life is very simple, very down to earth, and very natural”
A word for first ladies and women
leaders
Rounding
up the chat with asabeafrika, the
General Overseer of Bethel Wonder City in Lekki, Lagos South West Nigeria gave
an advise to female leaders on how to go about their service to mankind “Prayer,
going back to your foundation—God, going back to God, fearing God, you can’t
serve God and serve other things. You can’t be doing Juju and be serving God,
you choose. The Word of God says ‘choose you this day whom you will serve’ are
you going to serve yourself or you will serve God? Now, when you serve God you
will serve people because that position that God has given to you is to serve
people, you are serving God by serving people”
