JIDE CHORD (Jide Akinwunmi) is an epitome of creativity. Since he left Nigeria in the late 80s for the United Kingdom (UK), the Ibadan Oyo State born (He is Abeokuta by parenthood) Juju Music maestro reviewed and reformed the black entertainment community in Europe with his Juju Lambada brand which became a household name in the United Kingdom.
He is one of the souls who got into entertainment with a head full of ideas coupled with a school degree. Jide Chord started his career as a journalist with PUNCH Newspaper before going into Public Relations, Banking and finally music.
His antecedent as a Choir in his local church (Celestial Church of Christ) became a handy asset that set him apart and gave him a niche as leader of a Juju Music Band called London Merry Makers’ Band.
The band redefined Juju Music in London and became the social delight of many high and middle class citizens of the black community in the United Kingdom. The British Art Council equally engaged the band for many shows in other continents of the world.
JIDE CHORD grew in leaps and bounds and became a household name in Diapora and back home in Nigeria. He released several albums among which is the famous FESTIVAL OF LOVE released in Year 1998.
Now settled in Nigeria, the creator of JUJU LAMBADA opened up to Asabe Afrika TV inside his hotel suite in Lagos during a short stop over in Lagos.
He revealed why he is returning home to serve father land and give more of his musical ideas to Nigerian fans.
