sunny Sunday morning 50 years ago on February 19th, 1967, Princess Olufunke Kehinde was born at the famous Wusasa Hospital, Zaria,
Kaduna state—North Western Nigeria. A meek and tender little girl, Princess
Olufunke was dotted upon and showered with lots of love by her parents Mr. and Mrs. Adeyemi Durojaiye.Very much a daddy’s girl in at
50, Mrs. Kehinde cherishes wonderful
memories of a blissful childhood, sound education and summer holidays
abroad.

Though quite and simple, Princess
Olufunke Kehinde came out of her shell in her early days in school at Adrao International School, Victoria Island—Lagos, Maryland Convent
Private School and Maryland
Comprehensive Secondary School, Ikeja
between the year 1971-1977. Her talents for the writing and passion for arts
came to the fore, back then, as she took part in many entertainment activities
in school.
nine years,she took a keen interest in the literary arts,participated in school
stage plays, wrote drama scripts and poetry. To her credit, her first script “The
Curse of the gods” was dramatized on television by her school drama
club in 1977.

She nurtured her love for writing and acting all through
secondary school from 1977-1982. She got her Advanced Level education in England at the School of St. Mary and St. Anre Abbotts Bromley Stafford, England between 1982 and 1984.
In 1985, Princess Olufunke returned
to Nigeria and gained admission to
the University of Lagos where she
read philosophy out of her deep passion for the arts. She maintained her love
for writing intensely that by the time she graduated in the early 1990 and
completed her Youth Service year in 1991 at Universal
Trust Bank, Egbe, she realized banking was not for her, she then embraced
journalism instead.

where she learnt the tricks of the trade, under the tutelage of Mr. Kunle Ajibade, leading literary
journalist. From this point, she was exposed to the world of the Arts, Nigerian
Artists, celebrity life style and glamour in Nigeria.
the beat, Princess Olufunke met and
married her husband, Dr. Oluseye Kehinde, Publisher of City
People Magazine in 1992. The
demand of marital life and birth of her children led to her withdrawal from
journalism into more predictable world of civil service in 1993.

presently a top civil servant at the Lagos State Civil Service. However, her
first love remains writing, an area where she excels till today and and is
admired for writing good reports by her colleagues within the Lagos State Civil
Service.

Something” and “Leftie” for her
small frame and deft manner in writing with her left hand, she is known to have
a witty way with words.

mother, her gentle mien and reserved nature explains her preference for a low
profile life style. In her words “Being
solid in terms of and keeping my home together, keeping faith with my creator,
family and friends whilst impacting others in the background, to me, is
precious, valuable and the essence of my being”.
Olufunke Kehinde seems to hate the idea of contesting the public space with her
husband. According to her, “He is the
celebrity, I am not. I am contented with my role of being his wife and mother
to my children. I love my privacy”
