Temidayo Omolola and Mum, Mrs. Dupe Jemibewon |
Jemibewon is beautiful, brainy, charming and
very intelligent. On a first encounter you will take her for a mixed blood due
to her heavy American ascent which instantly gives her out as an American
curriculum breed.
But this graduate of Political
Economy from London School of
Economics with further degree from the prestigious Mount St. Mary University, Emmetsburg,
Maryland, USA is the only biological child of business woman and educationist
extra-ordinary Chief (Mrs.) Agnes Modupe
Jemibewon, wife of General David
Medayese Jemibewon. It is no news
that the General has five successful children from his first wife late Madam Comfort Adunni Jemibewon (Nee
Oni) but Omolola who works with Nigerian Exports Promotion Council, Abuja is his sixth child and the only
child of his pretty wife, Chief (Mrs.)
Dupe Jemibewon. She was at Ibadan
and Orin Ekiti in the first week of
August during the funeral of her late grand dad and former Principal of St. Patrick Grammar School, Ibadan; Chief John Bosede Ajayi. The very beautiful and loving Abuja big girl opened
up to your Africa’s number 1 Celebrity Encounter blog Asabeafrika at Orin Ekiti on Saturday August 8th
on her humble life as an only child and what it means to be the daughter of General David Medayese Jemibewon and Lady
Dupe Jemibewon. Enjoy excerpts

the life of your late grand dad, JB Ajayi, how would you define him?
great man, he will be missed and we hope and pray that his legacy will continue
long after he is gone. I appreciate the fact that we have people from all walks
of life coming to celebrate him. To a very large extent, he is an accomplished
man.

going to miss about him is his laughter, he had a really, really, really big
laugh. It was a kind of laugh that even though he is not doing anything funny
you will just be caught up in it and it will make you very happy. That is one
thing I am going to miss about my grand father.
“She is a woman who has touched many
lives in her own little way and today, you can see for your self what it means
to be like my mum. She is a good woman and that is not just my opinion alone”.

It is my guiding philosophy.

think there is any challenge being their daughter, you only need to work ahead
miles more than what is averagely expected of you. I think what really happened is that one has
grown to know the two of them as a source of inspiration. Both dad and mum are
very enlightened people and what comes first is a sense of discipline, a sense
of responsibility in all endeavors and a sense of respect for all no matter how
big or small. My parents believe in hard work and integrity and that has worked
for me both in Lagos where I was raised and Abuja where I work at the moment.
“Our family is a big family. I am one
of many, many children of my grand parent; I am one of the many children of my
parent. Yes, I am my mum’s only biological child but I can tell you that we
grew up as a big family. I grew up among my step brothers and sisters and whole
lot of other young people adopted by my parent”.

way, i was given the same straight training other children got and I am happy
for it, it has made me a complete adult.

“They all play their different roles
as parents and it ends there. My dad is a strong man who started taking
decisions at a very young age, I think he became a governor in his twenties and
likewise mum; she is from a family where education is the hallmark”.

Awolowo at the Nigerian Exports Promotion Council, how would you define that
gentle man?
how the economy is right now and the role of the Nigerian Exports Promotion
Council is to promote non-oil exports in Nigeria and diversify away from
oil and build a formidable economy. Our vision is to promote non-oil exports as
the key driver of the Nigerian economy. And for my boss (Segun Awolowo Jnr.) he
is a very focused and dynamic young man with lots of energy and innovation
working for him. He is phenomenal, he has a great vision for the organization
and we are all behind him, ready at all times to support his dreams and vision.

with every soul at a time. Be good to humanity because you have just one life
to live and once you are gone that is it. What speaks for you is your asset in humanity,
nothing else will count but your asset in humanity. I strongly believe in that
and it is a reflection of the kind of parents I have, from my grad parent both
on the maternal and paternal side, they all lived for humanity and you can see
that even from the funeral of my grand dad (JB Ajayi) today in Orin Ekiti. It shows how humane our
family is, my dad, my mum, my siblings everybody. It is one big happy family
and I thank God for such a wonderful experience.

of them influences me than the other. They are my parent. The only thing with
me is that I have two parents that have very, very strong personality. They are
both great people in their own rights, leaders and molders of other people’s
destinies. I can only say that I am lucky to have come through them and
actually understudy them in so many ways. They are my parent but no one
actually influences me than the other. They all play their different roles as
parents and it ends there. My dad is a strong man who started taking decisions
at a very young age, I think he became a governor in his twenties and likewise
mum; she is from a family where education is the hallmark. So, by their
upbringing one can say their lives are almost like a great book but with
different topics which is basically on leadership and enthusiasm.

dreaming. Your dream might appear blurred initially and the situation of a country
like Nigeria where challenges abound might shake your faith but you will surely
succeed if you persist. So, don’t, don’t ever, ever stop dreaming. Because
today is actually the tomorrow you worried about yesterday.
