The Online Publishers Association of Nigeria founded in May 2010 and duly registered at the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) of the Federal Republic of Nigeria by a discerning group of online publishing professionals who had the foresight to realise the issues affecting users and practitioners; as well as felt that the time had come to define standards for the fastest growing engagement online platform in our generation.
This group believes that the patient wait for a more opportune time is now and that Nigeria is set to launch an association to appropriate this ideals and open its doors to discerning online “publishers” and “corporate entities” who desire to make an impact to online publishing in Nigeria.

OPA Nigeria (OPAN), modelled after international standards and affiliates; with specific deliverables to meet the needs of the Nigerian market, desires to deliver, through credible research, best practice publishing and ongoing engagement with the public’s; an online based ‘regulatory’ service that is founded on ethical practices with global best practice compliance in an increasingly digital world.
It has become an absolute necessity for an association like OPA Nigeria (OPAN) to support publishing principles that reflect the traditional values separating editorial and commercial messages and cheap blackmail – never using advertising content as editorial, without creating editorial content for an advertiser, and always clearly labelling the source of content – thereby enhancing the credibility and public trust necessary to support a free press.
With its activities, it continues to promote and advance the policies of high-quality online publishers, since 2010; and before the corporate world – the press, government, the advertising community and the general public at large; a credible, reliable and sustainable information exchange.
The Association (OPAN) is committed to helping its members fairly compete in the marketplace with high standards and will act as a voice so that online users clearly understand the benefits that quality publishers provide to the public discourse.
The formal launch therefore is the culmination of years of dedicated issues/event testing interaction that has emboldened stakeholders to appreciate that this platform offers the basis to build trust in the online genre.
We thus invite you to engage.
