The Aare (Dr.) Bolu Akin-Olugbade |
what appears like a New Year message
to President Goodluck Jonathan and
his government, given on Thursday 1st of January 2015, Owu, Ogun
state born billionaire, Aare (Dr.) Bolu
Akin-Olugbade (Ph-D) gave the Nigerian President a strong worded advice to
carry out 3 emergency changes in the Month of January 2015 for Nigerians to
take him serious about his newly mouthed war on corruption.
The President had
declared during a New Year church service in the early hours Thursday January 1st
at the Dunamis International Gospel Center, Area 1, Garki-Abuja that his
administration’s strategy against corruption was to strengthen the capability
of institutions to nip the menace in the bud. The President said his idea of
anti-corruption war was not about arresting suspects and parading them on the
television. Hear him talk “We are coming
out with programs and plans to clean up, these are things you don’t just use
magical wand to wave off, otherwise before I became the president, there
wouldn’t have been corruption in Nigeria” Mr. Jonathan was quoted. Jonathan equally said “It (Corruption) is not just about shouting
‘corruption’, it is not about looking at one person, arrest the person and show
him on television”. He later promised to create new action plan to tackle
corruption in the New Year.
“If President Jonathan want to show
how concerned he is with the February election and if he is really genuine with
the anti-corruption war let him cancel this Kerosene subsidy fraud they are
engaging in because it is a total rip off, why should marketers be selling it
at N100 instead of N50, government gives them at N50 a liter and they are
selling it to the masses at N100. Are they going to tell us that the security
agencies don’t know they are selling it at such illegal price?”
However,
reacting to the President’s declaration in the later part of the day, the Owu,
Ogun state born billionaire Aare (Dr.)
Bolu Akin Olugbade who is equally an Oxford, England trained company law
expert said the President can only be seen to be sincere with his
anti-corruption war if he will be able to do three things in the month of
January among which is the scrapping of the present regime of Kerosene subsidy which
he (Akin-Olugbade) claims to be “one of the dirtiest act of corruption in the
present regime”. Secondly, the President must declare his assets publicly and
thirdly, the president must make publicise a forensic investigation of the allegedly
missing NNPC $20 billion dollars and make it public knowledge. Aare (Dr.) Akin Olugbade who spoke
exclusively to your Africa’s Number 1 Celebrity Encounter blog Asabeafrika during a New Year
get-together party at his elder brother,
Omoba Sunmande Babajimi Akin-Olugbade’s Yaba,
Lagos home was full of anger especially towards the alleged fraud regime going
on between some NNPC/PPPRA officials and some
Kerosene marketers in Nigeria.

The Aare (Dr.) Bolu Akin-Olugbade….Ready to fight the Kerosene Subsidy Cartel |
The
Aare who almost lost his temper
while speaking with this blog wondered why the minister of Petroleum Alison Madueke will permit such roguery
to go on under her watch “You say Kerosene is for the poor and should be sold
for fifty naira but nobody is selling it at that actual amount, they are
selling it at hundred naira per liter. So, why the hell are we losing money?
Why are we deceiving ourselves? And these are the same people the minister of
petroleum wants to give federal allocation to, it is ridiculous, will she say
she doesn’t know anything about it”.
further, Aare Bolu Akin-Olugbade advised
President Jonathan to arrest the situation immediately “If President Jonathan
want to show how concerned he is with the February election and if he is really
genuine with the anti-corruption war let him cancel this Kerosene subsidy fraud
they are engaging in because it is a total rip off, why should marketers be
selling it at N100 instead of N50, government gives them at N50 a liter and they
are selling it to the masses at N100. Are they going to tell us that the
security agencies don’t know they are selling it at such illegal price? It is
ridiculous, that is total corruption”
gone down because of fall in global demand; they were subsidizing it before
now, but right now the subsidy is naturally removed for petrol but Kerosene’s
landed cost is around hundred naira per liter, that is what they are paying for
but the Federal Government is subsidizing and paying those people an extra N50
which is ridiculous. The mathematics of that is that the federal government is
losing N50, the importers are paid with interest so why are you subsidizing
kerosene? There is no portfolio in the budget for it, there is nothing in the
budget for it and they have told the minister of petroleum to stop this
nonsense and yet she will not do anything about it; that is very, very
ridiculous” “These People (Kerosene Marketers) get 5000 metric tones of kerosene every month and the income they make
from it is a million dollars every
month. And there is no appropriation for it because they are violating the law,
they get five thousand metric tones
every month which they supposed to sell to Nigerians at fifty naira per liter but they are selling it at hundred naira and that gives them a
huge profit of about a million dollars
every month and that money is being shared between some faceless people in the PPPRA
and NNPC. If the President wants us to take his anti-corruption war serious he
must look into this and take an expedient action on it”
“I personally think Jonathan is a clean man but it is the
people around him that are giving him credibility problem. Like President Shehu Shagari, Goodluck Jonathan
is a clean man. Shagari was an
honest man but it was his lieutenants that tainted his government, the same
thing with Jonathan, I believe Jonathan is a clean man but his
lieutenants are not clean; so, he needs to declare his assets publicly so that
he doesn’t become a victim of their bad action”
Jonathan must declare assets publicly
second issue the Oxford trained lawyer wants Mr. President to threat in order
to be taken serious on corruption war is the issue of his asset which he has
not declared since 2011 “Mr. President must declare his assets publicly; he has
told us how much he is paying as tax, what is wrong in him declaring his
assets?” “I personally think Jonathan is
a clean man but it is the people around him that are giving him credibility
problem. Like President Shehu Shagari, Goodluck Jonathan is a clean man.
Shagari was an honest man but it was his lieutenants that tainted his
government, the same thing with Jonathan,
I believe Jonathan is a clean man
but his lieutenants are not clean; so, he needs to declare his assets publicly
so that he doesn’t become a victim of their bad action, and then he needs to
call them to order and one of the first thing he needs to do to call them to
order is to say ‘listen, this Kerosene subsidy should stop this year, right
now, then we will know that he is serious with the anti-corruption war”
final important thing the Egba High Chief wants President Jonathan to perform in
order to show how serious he is with his anticorruption war is to immediately make the report of a forensic investigation on the missing $20 billion NNPC fraud public “Yes, Mr.
President must immediately reveal the report of the forensic investigation on the missing
$10 Billion Dollars now and let us know what happened to the money; with that
he will have shown us how serious he is with the anti-corruption war. But when
you keep on saying ‘I am going to fight corruption, I am going to fight
corruption and you don’t do anything, there is no pro-active action from you,
no action from you, you just keep on talking, talking it will be a sad loss. As
far as I know I don’t think Jonathan is
corrupt, like Shagari he is not
corrupt but it is the people around him that are corrupt and he needs to stop
that now so that the party, PDP can win this coming election”
